How the Internet Works
Let's start with the basics. Your ISP (Internet Service Provider) is the company that provide you access to the internet. There are two main ways to connect to the internet: wired and wireless. Wired connections use physical cables, usually Ethernet cables, to connect your devices directly to your router. Wireless connections use radio waves to connect your devices to your router. You probably use a mix of both at your business.
Your router is like the traffic cop of your internet. It takes the incoming internet signal from your modem and directs it to all the devices on your network. Think of your modem as the gateway to the internet, and your router as the manager of your home network.
Quick Tip: Sometimes your modem and router are combined into one box, which can make things a little confusing.
